MathSoc has two sports teams competing in intra-mural sports:
- A Netball team called The Denominatrixes.
- An 11-a-side football team called Aftermath.
Netball
This is the first season for The Denominatrixes! We are the brand new MathSoc Netball team made up of friendly, enthusiastic members from all years. We train weekly and play matches on Saturday mornings. We hold social events and have a laugh but come game time, we are very competitive!
We're always looking for new members so if anyone is interested in joining, then just get in touch with the Captain or Vice Captain. You don't need to be a pro, everyone is welcome!

Football
We have an 11-a-side football team called Aftermath.
History
Aftermath has been playing 11-a-side intra-mural football for 4 seasons now, starting life in the Wednesday league 4th division in the 2007/2008 season. We have been very successful over these 4 seasons, gaining 3 promotions – including back-to-back promotions in the last two years. Meaning in the 2011/2012 season we were competing in the Wednesday league 1st division for the first time.
About the team
The team is perfect for people who want to socialize, but also play good quality serious football. When it comes to match day we are very competitive in order to do as well as we possibly can. Then we also have lots of training and social events, where there is lots of friendly banter!
Trials
We are looking for new members of the team for the upcoming 2012/2013 season and will be holding two trial events towards the end of Freshers' Week. The trials will be held on the Longbenton 3G pitch – details on how to get there can be found in the link below. The trial dates are:
- Friday 28th September at 11am - 1pm,
- Sunday 30th September at 11am - 1pm.
You can attend one session or both, but attending both trials can increase your chances of making the team.
